Ty Tessmann & Team Orion Win 1/8 Electric Buggy @ Neo17!

This past weekend, Neo17 would once again invade Harper Adams Arena in Shropshire, England. Neo is very well know as the most popular indoor 1/8 off-road race in the World! This year would see one of the most stacked drivers list from the past few years with all the major Teams sending out there top drivers to compete for one of the prestigious Neo Titles!

Friday, April 14th: 3 Rounds of Controlled Practice
Saturday, April 15th: 3 Rounds of Qualifying
Sunday, April 16th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Monday, April 17th: 1/8 Electric Buggy A-Main Event

After all 5 rounds of qualifying were complete, it was Team Orion's David Ronnefalk securing the overall TQ honors!



The single 10-minute A-Main Event saw a great battle for the first couple of laps between Team Orion teammates David Ronnefalk & Ty Tessmann. On lap #5, Tessmann was able to get by Ronnefalk and open up a lead. Tessmann would then control the race for the next couple minutes before coming under pressure from Kyosho's Elliott Boots. With time running out, Tessmann would run mistake free and be the only driver to make it by for the extra lap to take home yet another Neo 1/8 Electric Buggy Title!

Ryan Cavalieri Sweeps 2016 Team Associated Top Gun Shootout!

The 2016 Team Associated Top Gun Shootout was held this past weekend at SDRC Raceway in San Diego, California. This great annual event continues to gain momentum every year and this year would be no different. With over 230 total race entries, it was going to be a great weekend of racing in SoCal!

In the 2wd Modified Buggy class, Team Orion's Ryan Cavalieri took the overall TQ honors after TQ'ing rounds #1 & #3 of qualifying!

Cavalieri then went onto dominate A-Mains #1 & #2 which locked up his first overall Win of the weekend!

Formally known as the extremely popular Spektrum Off-Road Challenge, 2016 would see this same race change manufacturers now to the Team Associated Off-Road Championships still hosted by Trackside Hobbies & Raceway in Brookfield, Wisconsin. With all the normal heavy hitters in attendance, as well as World Famous Scotty Ernst on the mic, it was a great weekend of racing with an impressive 340 entries!

The 2016 Surf City Classic was again hosted by OC RC Raceway in beautiful Huntington Beach, California. The success of this race over the years has been very impressive and this year would be no different. Rumors that the race would sell out quickly was heard weeks before the race. When sign-ups did open, they only lasted 26-minutes until all 350 race entries were sold out!

Team Orion rolled into this years ROAR Nationals with the All Star Team consisting of:

In the 2wd Modified Buggy class, it was Team Orion's Dakotah Phend taking the overall TQ honors!

A rough first lap by Phend would hand over the race lead to 2nd qualifier Ryan Cavalieri. Cavalieri and his Team Associated teammate Spencer Rivkin would have a great battle all race long. As time ran out and the checkered flag waiving, it was Team Orion's Ryan Cavalieri crossing the finish line 1st to take the Win! Reedy's Spencer Rivkin would finish 2nd & Reedy's Ashe Deering 3rd.

The highly anticipated 2016 IFMAR 1/8 Nitro Buggy World Championships were held last week at RC Tracks of Las Vegas, just a few short blocks off the World Famous Las Vegas strip! Ronnefalk, Phend, & Berton would lead charge for Team Orion at this years Worlds!

Ronnefalk would start the long week out right by setting the overall fastest seeding practice time from both rounds that counted! With qualifying up next, Ronnefalk continued to show great pace in all 6 rounds by highlighting a TQ run in Round #4!

Ronnefalk would then start 2nd in the Odd 30-minute Semi. He would go onto dominate this race and would earn the 3rd grid spot for the A-Main Event up later that night!

With the Las Vegas strip lit up in the background, the grueling 1-hour A-Main Event was set to begin. As the tone went off, Ronnefalk showed great patients and quickly picked up 1 position by the end of the first lap. He would then pace his HB Racing teammate Tessmann for the next 14 laps where he would eventually get by for the lead. With pit stops being a vital part of the race, David's Dad Pierre and Team Orion's Adrien Bertin would provide lightning fast pits stops to help keep him out front! At the halfway point of the race, David had slowly began to stretch out his lead on the field with a pace that was difficult for his competition to match. With only a few minutes left in the race, Ronnefalk had pulled out over a 20-second gap on 2nd place! As the checkered flag waived, it was Team Orion's David Ronnefalk crossing the finish line first to take home his 1st World Championship!

This past weekend the German Off-Road Nationals for 4wd Modified Buggy & Modified Truck were held in Hurtgenwald, Germany...located just 1 hour from Cologne. On Saturday, Team Orion's Jorn Neumann would dominate qualifying in both classes to secure the overall TQ positions! Then on Sunday, Neumann would go onto drive flawlessly and Win the first 2 A-Mains in both classes to add 2 more German National Championships to his already stacked resume!

Team Orion's Phend, Maifield, & Cavalieri Sweep All 4 Modified Classes @ 2016 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals in Omaha!

The 2016 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals were held this past weekend at The HobbyPlex in Omaha, Nebraska. This first class facility would consist of a large fully stocked hobby shop, spacious air conditioned pit area, and huge indoor clay track.

Team Orion rolled into this years ROAR Nationals with the All Star Team consisting of:

  • Defending 2wd Modified Buggy, 4wd Modified Buggy, Modified Truck, & 2wd Modified Short Course ROAR National Champion: Ryan Cavalieri
  • Current 1/8 Electric Buggy & 4x4 Modified Short Course ROAR National Champion: Ryan Maifield
  • Multi-time World Champion & ROAR National Champion: Jared Tebo
  • Multi-time ROAR National Champion: Dakotah Phend
  • Multi-time ROAR National Champion: Ty Tessmann
  • 2011 2wd Modified Buggy ROAR National Champion: Dustin Evans

Team Orion USA Team Manager Joe Pillars was once again in attendance at this years ROAR Nationals to provide top notch support to all Team Orion drivers and customers.

Team Orion Factory Driver Ryan Maifield would go onto take the TQ in round #1. Team Orion Factory Driver Dakotah Phend would then take the TQ in round #2. For round #3, it was Team Orion Factory Driver Ty Tessmann taking the TQ. Going into the 4th and final round of qualifying, the over all TQ was up for grabs. Phend would go onto lay down an impressive run to take the round #4 TQ and overall TQ honors!

Also in the A-Main Event for Team Orion was: Ty Tessmann starting 2nd, Ryan Maifield 3rd, Ryan Cavalieri 4th, & Dustin Evans 5th. Phend would then go onto dominate both A-Main #1 & A-Main #2, leading each race from tone to tone to take home his 1st ROAR National Championship of the weekend! Team Orion's Ty Tessmann would Win the exciting A-Main #3 to finish 2nd overall & Team Orion's Ryan Maifield would round out the podium in 3rd to complete the Team Orion podium sweep!

Team Orion & Jorn Neumann = 2016 4wd Buggy European Champions!

The 2016 1/10 Electric Off-Road European Championships were held this past weekend in Valladolid, Spain. This years track was very challenging which consisted of a dirt surface with the jumps covered by astroturf. Team Orion's Jorn Neumann was in attendance and in search of adding another prestigious European Championship to his already impressive racing resume.

In the 4wd Modified Buggy class, Team Orion's Jorn Neumann would run strong all through qualifying to start 3rd on the grid for the Triple A-Main Events. In A-Main #1, both TQ Coelho & 2nd qualifier Cragg had issues before the start of the race that would allow Jorn to start out front. Jorn would go onto take full advantage of this rare situation to lead every lap and take the convincing Win!

In A-Main #2, Jorn put in a good drive to finish 2nd and secure a podium position. In A-Main #3, Jorn was a man on a mission and quickly passed Cragg after a few corners for 2nd, then a few laps later made another great pass on Coelho for the lead. Jorn would never look back and stretch out his lead to cruise home for the Win and claim the 2016 4wd Buggy European Championship Title!
